The kindergarten “Birds” was founded and has been running in Piraeus since 1976. During the first years of its operation, it was housed in the “Metaxa Estate”, a well known neo-classic building with caryatides, which was designed by the German architect Chiller. From 1982 until 1994 another department of the kindergarten operated in a neo-classic building located in Castella (2, Nikodimou & Mavili St.), which provided a comfortable playground area. The kindergarten is still running in Castella building. Soon, “Birds” was recognized as a distinguished educational unit in our country. Education, which constantly readjusts to the demands and needs of our time, is provided by selected academic personnel, and is based on the Swiss educational approach.
